Umar ibn al-Khattab

إِنَّا نَجِدُ خَيْرَ الْأَمْوَالِ مَا وُضِعَ مَوْضِعَهُ، وَخَيْرَ الْعَقْلِ مَا دَلَّ عَلَى هُدًى أَوْ صَدَّ عَنْ رَدًى.

We find the best of wealth to be that which is placed where it belongs, and the best of intellect to be that which guides to right guidance or turns away from destruction.

Imam Maalik

لَا أُحْسِنُ أَنْ أَقُولَ لَا أَدْرِي قَبْلَ أَنْ أَكُونَ عَالِمًا.

“I do not know” is half of knowledge, and I do not know how to say “I do not know” until I am first a scholar.

Imam Abu Haneefah

نَأْخُذُ بِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَدَعُ أَقْوَالَنَا.

الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ مَخُّ الْعِبَادَةِ، فَإِذَا صَفَا الْقَلْبُ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ وَالْغِلِّ فَازَ بِالْإِجَابَةِ.

Supplication is the marrow of worship; when the heart is purified of shirk and malice, it attains the response.

What can my enemies do to me? My Paradise is in my heart; my imprisonment is a retreat (khalwah); my being killed is martyrdom; and my being driven from my land is a migration (hijrah).

مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِعِلْمٍ فَلْيَنْظُرْ: إِنْ كَانَ لِلَّهِ تَكَلَّمَ، وَإِلَّا فَلْيَسْكُتْ.

Whoever wishes to speak with knowledge, let him consider: if it is for Allah, then let him speak; otherwise, let him remain silent.
